submission standards

Each entry should include one video that meets the following criteria:

• Video Length and Size

  •  Your video must be between 1 and 3 minutes.

  •  Your video must not exceed 300MB.

​

• Language & Country

  • Your video must be in English.

  • Remember My Story is calling for video submission for all countries in the world. Participants must be at least of legal age in the country where they reside.

​

• Video Content

  • Your video may include one person or multiple.

  • Please include a brief background of yourself (or the story subject) at the beginning of the video (such as name, city/country, and profession/career, or anything else about you that you’re comfortable sharing).

  • Experiences we’d like to hear (including, but not limited to):

    • COVID-infected

    • Families, partners, friends of COVID-infected

    • Mental health issues including depression, anxiety, anger, and indecision

    • Financial setback, debt, making ends meet

    • Public servants & essential workforce

      • Health care providers

      • First responders

      • Law enforcement

      • Legal

      • Teachers

    • Life at home

      • Parenting

      • Marital relationships

      • Loneliness

      • Feeling trapped or unsafe sheltering in place

• Content may not include:

  • Plagiarized content

  • Content with hate speech or hateful symbols that promote or encourage discrimination, denigration, objectification, harassment, or violence

  • Solicitations

  • Inappropriate jokes

  • Inflammatory comments or obscenity

  • Nudity and sexually explicit content such as pornography, sexual acts, and sexual services

• Video Quality

  • Your video must have a resolution of at least 720p. Landscape mode with an aspect ratio of 16:9 is preferred.

  • Your video must be recorded with limited background noise and optimal lighting so it can be heard and seen clearly.

  • Feel free to tell us about your story in your own way.

  • Your video can be as simple as you talking on camera with a background that you feel is appropriate or it can be more elaborate production with other footage, multiple camera angles, edits, special effects, animation, props, etc.

  • The most important thing is that your story is told authentically and in an interesting way that will help viewers to understand and connect with your experience.

• Submission Frequency and Limits

  • Multiple submissions are allowed, but additional submissions must be substantially different from previous submissions in terms of content.

  • You are limited to submitting one video each day.

 

acceptance criteria

We accept meaningful and creative video entries that touch our hearts and are honest with their experiences. We will review videos for the following:

​

• Storytelling

  • We will look at how powerfully the story is presented and how well the story arc succeeds in sharing the heart of your story.

​

• Creativity and Imagination Used in Telling Your Story

  • We will look at creative presentation, flow of the story and effectiveness of any visual aids used.

    • Note: Simple, well-told stories are fine. Graphics and visual aids are not a requirement, but if you choose to use elevated video production to tell your story, make sure that the enhancements add to the telling of your story and do not distract from it.

• Video Production Quality

  • We will also look at the overall quality of your video in terms of clarity, sound, lighting, transitioning, and other editing techniques.

 

compensation

• You will receive an award of $100 if your video is one of the first 100 qualified videos accepted by us. You will also receive a $50 gift certificate from Xero Shoes if your video is among the first 50 accepted videos. Stories are reviewed in the order they are received.

• The deadline for an entrant to submit their video to the Remember My Story project and be eligible to receive the $50 Xero Shoes gift certificate is November 23, 2021 at 11:59 PM EST.

• Qualified videos will be featured and promoted on our website, social media and newsletter.
